The life of a designer is fully encompassing.

Balancing being creative and productive is a daily challenge. Sitting in front of a computer most of the day working to deadlines, it’s hard to make time to step away and recharge.

We can provide that support and prioritise listening and dedicated support for professionals and students.

Outcomes and Goals

  • Interior Designers are a mix of creatives and problem solvers. Our profession comes with its own unique set of circumstances so we need to talk to people that are like minded and understand our situation.

Mentoring programs boost minority representation at the management level by 9% to 24% and improve promotion and retention rates for minorities and women by 15% to 38%. This is great news as our industry is predominately female in Australia.

  • For a team member to be appreciated and feel valued and that is what employees want in this market and this is our main goal of this service.

We want to listen to your concerns and provide relevant guidance and advice to empower you to achieve your career goals.

  • Mentoring is a proven business strategy. While the benefits of mentoring are understood, the scale and consistency of mentoring outcomes is often understated.

Did you know that 91% of employees who have a mentor are satisfied with their jobs with more than half (57%) saying they're “very satisfied”.

Her wealth of experience as a successful woman in design has awarded her with impeccable leadership and communication skills alongside a plethora of professional and interpersonal knowledge.

As a mentor Jenna takes a holistic approach and prioritises trust and mutual respect. She's always communicates honestly and openly about helpful lessons she's learnt in the industry.

Her guidance consistently leaves me feeling purposeful, heard and more than capable of handling the situation on my own, whilst looking forward to seeing her for a celebratory cup of coffee upon achieving resolution.

FAQs

  • The sessions are a 1:1 dedicated virtual conversation. What we talk about is really up to you!

It's your time to be the focus and to drive what you need from the session. It's all about you and your goals after all. The best results come from having a clear goal in mind and what topics you'd like to talk about.

Some typical questions for Professionals we receive are "My Performance review is coming up and I'm not sure how to approach it" or "I'm having some issues with my Senior Designer or Director, can we talk through some options on how to address it professionally".

Some typical questions from students are "I'm about to finish and I have no idea how to get a job, can you help?" or "I'm unsure if I have enough experience to apply for a job, can you provide some interview tips or look at my portfolio?"

  • Unfortunately not. We wish we could predict the future but we can't!

The main idea of the sessions if for you to be heard and hear from an experienced designer that has worked in small, medium and large size interior design and architecture firms.

We have had lots of life experience too, lived overseas, had a child and returned to a career plus, know lots of other designers and professionals in the Construction and Property Industries to give you a rounded sense of knowledge no matter what your query.

  • It's all up to you and the size of your concern. Most designers need one session to download and gain some initial reactions/guidance and then possibly another session a few months later to check in and pivot and/or add to the initial outcomes/goals.

  • Yes of course! we have seen many a portfolio over the years and hired many designers.

A portfolio is your opportunity to show the viewer who you are and what your about as a designer before they meet you. It's a vital non verbal communication skill that usually is the first point of contact with a potential employer so it's worth the investment to put your best foot forward in the recruitment process.
